Neurodegenerative diseases.

Regenerative medicine.

Why I’m Excited to Study Aging:

Aging is, in my view, the most interesting and ubiquitous aspect of biological existence. Most mammals will experience years to decades of life, wherein the strength and vitality of youth fade, and are replaced by disease and the inevitable failure of the physical body. It is at the intersection of aging and brain health that I find my greatest passion in science, and where I will focus my research throughout my career. I approach the study of aging with the understanding that death is as much a part of life as birth, and is essential and inevitable, but that quality of life can be improved with a better understanding of the aging process and how to rapidly implement our basic scientific findings in the growing geriatric population.

My Future Goals:

I hope to utilize the skills I have gained in graduate school to advocate for funding dedicated to addressing the extensive questions on the neuroscience of aging. I am passionate about promoting science literacy and education in community settings to better communicate with the public regarding the critical research that must be done to improve quality of life as we age.
