San Antonio Nathan Shock Center

Goals of the San Antonio Nathan Shock Center

1. To be a leader in research that advances our understanding of the biology of aging
2. To provide a ‘one-stop-shop’ venue to accelerate transformative research in the biology of aging
3. To foster and promote career development of early-stage investigators in aging biology
4. To serve as a resource and partner to investigators from other Shock Centers, institutions, and the public, for dissemination of scientific knowledge and enhancing awareness about aging research

The aging process plays an important role in the development of chronic disease and disability.

The mission of the San Antonio Nathan Shock Center is to discover the molecular and cellular mechanisms that control the aging process, in order to develop strategies to promote healthy aging.
